Surgery Scars + Swimming?!

Question:

Surgery Scars + Swimming?

ok, Im a kid and got 2 scars on my body, 1 is on my stomach diagnally to the left of stomach for about 4 inches which I dont get embarrassed by, and other is a 1.5 inch scar horizontally below my neck about 3 inches down. The thing im asking is what do I do. Many of my friends have parties and go in pools and I feel uncomfortable with them and feel people would think its weird and would judge me. What do I do? The scar between my pecs is from a mediport and has a vein going into my chest which is really noticeable. I dont want to go swimming but I do at the same time to fit in. What do I do

You can get great rash-guard shirts from most surf shops that are meant to be worn in the water. If anyone asks, you can just say it is for sun protection.

I am assuming that all of the possible remedies for scar lightening have been tried and you are going to have these scars for the rest of your life. In which case, now might be a good time to start getting used to that as a part of your body that will be there anyway.

People should be polite enough not to mention your scars, but when they aren't (and this will happen from time to time), you can dream up crazy responses.
"Oh, this one? Tragic can opener accident..."
"Well, you should see the other guy..."
"Where did that come from???!"
"Voldemort."

It is all about attitude. If you seem self-conscious, other kids could pick up on that and try to tease you, but if you are confident and show that it doesn't bother you, it probably won't bother anyone else.

You should also think of your scars with pride. You have gone through something that probably other kids your age haven't and you survived. That makes you strong and someone to be admired. A scar isn't a defect; it is like a souvenir of your strength.

Have a happy summer!
