Are GP's benefitting from prescribing certain drugs?
I thought that they have to watch their budget and therefore would be more likely to watch out.

Mmmmm. I dont think so. In the uk gps have to adhere to NICE guidelines for drugs. However, there are different brands of drugs, Drug reps do give nice lunches. conferences abroad and stacks of free bees but gps are not obligated to purchase drugs from these people. Working in the NHS I honestly think that nearly all Dr's want to help their patients in the best way they can. They do however in my opinion rob the tax payer blind when it comes to GP contracts. however, that's another topic
