Panic attacks im sick of them!!!!!?

Hey everyon i get panic attacks every now and then sometimes they last a week other times only 2 mins im getting kinda annoyed with them now but i dont wnt to go on medication for it, when im going through one it feels like im going to die soon and stop breathing which makes me feel freaked out its hard to describe but it scares the s*!t out of me is there anything I can do? its getting to the point where im scared of socializing with people in case i faint or something bad happens even though nothing bad ever has but its just the weirdest thing to describe and if anyone knows how to help me I would much appriciate it, thanks xxx
