Should I Go To The Hospital?!

Question:

Should I Go To The Hospital?

For about two weeks or more, I've had a really bad cough. Laughing makes me cough, just about anything makes me cough. Medicine isn't helping, cough drops aren't helping. It's a thick, mucussy sounding cough, kinda like a smokers cough, but I don't smoke. After I cough, I get this really nasty taste in my mouth. When I breath, I feel like something is rattling in me chest and a lot of times, after I get done coughing, I have chest pains.
I can't go to the dr, because I'm on medicaid and no dr around here will take it. Should I go to the hospital?
Serious answers only, please.

Answers:

If you absolutely can't find a doctor or clinic that will see you, then by all means, go to the hospital. It sounds like you have pneumonia, which does leave a nasty taste in your mouth. You probably need to be on an antibiotic and inhalers until it clears up. I had this recently, and my symptoms were the same as yours. Good luck.
