Anxiety medicine.. marijuana... what do i do??

my doctor wants me to start taking anxiety medicine.
but she doesnt know yet that i smoke pot about 5 times a week.
i want to get on anxiety medicine, but i dont want to give up smoking pot.
most people i've talked to say that if i start taking anxiety medicine, then if i smoke pot, it will mess me up more, but not in a good way.
So i dont know what to do now...
i need anxiety medicine, but i'm not giving up pot.
Would u take the chance of doing both??
or does anyone know if it would even effect me if i did both?
