Migraine headaches - high blood pressure?!

Question:

Migraine headaches - high blood pressure?

I've had migraine headaches since I was a toddler. My first round through a headache clinic was when I was 3 years old, and I've gone nearly every year since then. They've tried every medication imaginable, and most make the migraines worse. I've lost 70 lbs and have kept it off for two years. So...for the last week, I've had what I think is really high blood pressure. My doctors haven't ever been concerned about my blood pressure, but today it was 149/98 (tested on a machine at the store). High blood pressure runs in my family on my dad's side (all of his living relatives, including him, take medication for it)...so could my blood pressure have something to do with my migraines?? It seems like too easy of a solution, so I want some opinions before I spend the money to go to yet another doctor. I've never noticed a correlation between the two because I don't monitor my blood pressure regularly (at all), but I do have detailed diaries of my headaches and haven't found a pattern...thanks

Answers:

My first thought is that the migraine caused the high blood pressure, it tends to go up when we get stressed, And chronic migraines is enough to stress anyone.
