I am having lower back pains, what should i do if i dont have a doctor to help?

Answers:

Hi! I am a massage therapist. Does it feel like muscular pain or like something is out of place? Or does it feel internal?

The kidneys are located in the lower back, above the sacrum, below the ribs on both sides. If it hurts inside, you might have a kidney infection and you would need to see a doctor.

If it feels muscular, like when you rub it, it feels good, then you can ice it and massage it. I would ice it the first day only. The next day, get an old sock and put some tennis balls in it. Grab both sides of it and roll it around on your back. You can lay it on the floor and use it that way. After you have iced for 48 hours, you can start taking hot baths with epsom salts.

If it feels structural like something may be out of place, go see a chiropractor. You should also see the chiro if my above instructions are not helping with the pain.

Finally, after you are feeling better, implement an exercise routine like yoga which focuses on back health. You should also try and get massages as often as possible.

Feel better!
