I have never had either done, and I have had a sore throat for 2 days, I just got over the flu so that might be it I dont know. When I went to the doctor before sometimes they would like squeeze the side of my throat and I didnt know what they were checking for, but when I squeeze the sides of my throat I have some pain

They squeeze the sides of your throat to see if your glands are swollen. Strep throat causes fever and a very sore throat. The flu has nothing to do with strep, the flu is a virus and strep is bacterial. They are not related. Strep will not go away on its own, so if the sore throat doesn't go away in 3-4 days, you should go to the doc to see if you need antibiotics. They usually talk about pulling tonsils if you have had tonsillitis about 6 times in one year. It has nothing to do with strep, you can still get strep after taking your tonsils out.
