Plegm interfering with eating? I need to get rid of this excess phlegm! Help!?!

Question:

Plegm interfering with eating? I need to get rid of this excess phlegm! Help!?

Everytime I eat, after a couple of bites, I can feel my food get caught in all of my phlegm. I have been eating less and less recently because of it, and was wondering how I could get rid of this excess phlegm. Has anyone ever had this problem? I am taking robitussin currently, is there anything else I should be doing/taking?? Thanks!

Answers:

I used to do a lot of singing and I suffer from allergies which causes me to have excess phlegm. I had a vocal coach who told me to drink either lemonade of grapefruit juice. The acid seems to help with expelling the phlegm. One other thing that I found helps is the really strong mini mints they sell at Starbucks. I used to suck on one right before I had to sing and it really helped to clear my throat. You might want to try sucking one of these mints before you eat. Also, try to keep a diary of what you eat and see if there are some foods that are causing more of a problem than others as you might be suffering from a food allergy.
Hope that helps!
