We had transparent eyelids. That way, we could type questions on here without them drooping from tiredness?

Actually transparent eyelids would be great. They are called nictitating membranes in animals. I grew up on a farm and I know chickens have them. I was just a little kid and it freaked me out when I first saw them.
Some mammals such as polar bears, seals and aardvarks also have full nictitating membranes. Frogs and lizards have them. In fact, that little pink lump in the inside corner of your eye is a remnant of a nictitating membrane.
So, if you can grow it out to full size, go for it dude.
However when one is tired the brain slowly shuts down the neural pathways to the brain so you won't hear, see or smell anything when you are really tired. Transparent eyelids or not, it won't compute and you will have no conscious recollection of seeing. I don't think you would get more done, but your eyes would be better protected. So, there you go. Good news and bad news.
