Can people on seroquel donate plasma?!

Question:

Can people on seroquel donate plasma?

cause i wanna but they say i need permission from my pdoc and i think thats some bull crap

Answers:

I am no expert and I dont know how plasma works vs blood but i would guess they want to avoid liability from this:

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)
A potentially fatal symptom complex sometimes referred to as Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) has been reported in association with administration of antipsychotic drugs, including SEROQUEL. Rare cases of NMS have been reported with SEROQUEL. Clinical manifestations of NMS are hyperpyrexia, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, and evidence of autonomic instability (irregular pulse or blood pressure, tachycardia, diaphoresis, and cardiac dysrhythmia). Additional signs may include elevated creatine phosphokinase, myoglobinuria (rhabdomyolysis) and acute renal failure.1

they may also want proof that you have not donated plasma in Mexico due to their risky donation process. 2

there is always the option that you are right-it is a load of crap but dont let them get to you. i tried to pull up info from the ama (american medical association) but got nowhere. You might have better luck

i hope this helps
