Medication for Anxiety?!

Question:

Medication for Anxiety?

Can anyone make any suggestions on the best medication for anxiety? By that I mean panic attacks and general fear or worrying.

Answers:

I've had adverse reactions to all anti-anxiety and anti-depressants prescribed to me.

I've found the best cure for panic attacks is to think about the circumstances you were in when they happened and figure out exactly what it was that triggered the attack. What was going on at the time, what did it remind you of from your past?

Aside from that, learning to relax all your muscles and do slow, deep breathing when you feel an attack coming on will, in the long run, give you better control over panic attacks than medication. By learning to control the attacks, you strengthen the higher brain structures that control panic signals from the more primitive part of your brain. Relying on medication doesn't put the control back in your hands.

Good luck. I know how upsetting these attacks are.
