I know a lot of people with ADD and their parents smoke pot around them when they were young.... Is this a common thing?

Probably not, since pot doesn't have any ill effects beyond the actual smoke itself, which can be negated by vaporizing or consuming orally. Anyone who says "OMG it makes u stoopit" or "it damagez ur braaainn!" is a total ignoramous and/or believed all those nonsense school anti-drug workshops.

However, it's probably a stupid idea to smoke anything while pregnant, as the human fetus is developing and reacts differently than an adult or even child. I doubt ADD is directly related, but considering nicotine can cause defects in children, exposing an unborn child to the toxins in any smoke (or even in household cleaners) can be a legitimate cause pretty for terrible problems His parents, if they smoked while the mother was pregnant, deserve a good swift beating.
