Physical therapists: How much do you make?!
Question:
Physical therapists: How much do you make?
What area of PT do you work in, how long have you been doing it for, and how much do you make? I'm curious because I always thought $75,000 was the median, but I was recently told that's not the case unless you have a REALLY successful clinic.
I'm not interested in averages or ranges from websites such as PayScale.com - they tend to exaggerate.
Answers:
I know you said that you didn't want averages or salaries, but that is very personal information...but I will give you very real information.
While I don't care to reveal MY salary, I will tell you that the salary range at OUR hospital based outpatient clinic will pay about $45,000 a year for a new graduate with no experience and our top salary for a physical therapist maxes out at $75,000...most of these therapists have 15-20 years experience. At our clinic, someone with about 5-10 years experience will make about $55-65,000. This is in the Chicago area
A survery by the APTA reveals that about 50% of PTs are making between $50-70,000 a year and that average salary is about $55,000 a year in 2005...I would trust this info much more than what you find on salary.com
