Subungual Hematoma?!

Question:

Subungual Hematoma?

(Blood clot under fingernail due to injury)

I slammed my finger in a door 5 or 6 weeks ago. I thought I would loose the nail but didn't.
Most of it is growing out, with my nail, but not all of it.
There is still one small section that goes from the middle of my fingernail (where the other part has grown out to), down to the base of my nail. If you push the cuticle down, there is no end in sight.

More than 1/2 of my finger nail is still black.
I thought it was strange, considering the majority of it is growing out as my nail grows and this part isn't (and it happend 5-6 weeks ago). Is this normal?

Mostly... I'm at high risk for bloot clots so I'm just curious if this type of clot can travel?

Answers:

It will take as long as a year to have it all grow out, and if you damaged the cuticle even longer.
I have never heard of his type of thing traveling, but considering your condition I would ask a your Doctor or Hematologist.
