When was the first cancer treatment discovered using "modern" medici!

Question:

When was the first cancer treatment discovered using "modern" medicine?

Modern in this sense means from 1850 to the present.

Answers:

Well, the most common treatements for cancer are Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiation Therapy, Immunotherapy, and Monoclonal Antibody Therapy.

Surgery has been around basically FOREVER, so I'm assuming that's not a "modern" method.

I would say that it's when Marie and Pierre Curie discovered Radiation at the end of the 19th century. This was the first effective non-surgical cancer treatment.

Chemotherapy didn't begin until the 1940s.
