My husband is donating part of his liver to his mother and I am donating my one !

Question:

My husband is donating part of his liver to his mother and I am donating my one kidney to my Mother-in-law.?

Can some one help me to find if I donate my kidney how will it effect my health. I have a one year old son to take care of.

Answers:

Blessings to you for being so thoughtful! You husband's liver is fully capable of regenerating itself so if all goes well, he should be fine.

Many people get along just fine on one kidney. However, once gone, it's gone. And gods forbid anything should happen to your remaining kidney, then you would need a transplant. It's a hard call to make. I would only do it if it were my child or grandchild. But that is just me.

I am, however, an organ donor and after death, they can harvest whatever they like.

Enjoy your day and good luck to all of you!
