General Anesthesia with breast augmentation, Scared!?!

Question:

General Anesthesia with breast augmentation, Scared!?

Having BA done in a week, never been put under before and I am really scared of not waking up. I have a history of anxiety (the doc knows this). I used to smoke socially but have quit that. No family history of bad reaction to general anesthesia.

Answers:

It is perfectly normal for you to be scared as most of us are for the first time.

They will monitor your very closely throughout surgery with all of your vitals.

If there is no history of bad reactions and the Doctor knows all of your relevant history. He will look after you with his life.

You are in the best hands with Theatre staff and Anaesthatists, who train for a very long time and are prepared for ALL emergencies that may arrise.

But thousands have a GA every day and are waking up asking for a cup of coffee. Once it's all over I am sure you will be the same.

Tell him you are affraid also. But by the time you get the first injection you really won't care much anymore. It's actually very nice going under.
