Basically, different creams stay useable for varying amounts of time. Hydrocortisone should last more than a year. The best thing to do however, is to find the expiry date of the medication.
It can be found on the box usually, you just have to have a look around. Also it is printed on the tube of cream as well. If you can't find it on the tube, try looking at the tail, where the end piece folds over. There should be something like "Exp: 06/08" written there. It tells you that the medication expires in June 2008.
