Should I take pain meds before dentist appointment?

I was getting a root canal done and even though I was numbed the pain got unbearable at one point . Next appointment to finish root canal is two hours long how can I bear with the pain?

ASK YOUR DENTIST FIRST. Like some posters have said, some pain meds might thin your blood or some might interact very bad with the injection medication.
