Steroid shot?!

Steroid shot?

I had an allergic reaction to a medication, and my doctor is having me come in today to give me a steroid shot to, I guess, get rid of the rash and such.

Has anyone ever had one before? Do they hurt? What are the side effects?

Yeah, he had me take an antihistamine and said if it didn't work to come in for the shot.

Let's just say my rash has turned into a big blotch. It is much worse. :(

Steroids are used for their anti-inflammatory properties in the case of rash. I don't think you will have any side effects from one dose. Your doctor may prescribe steroids in the form of tablets to take in decreasing doses. One common side effect would be nervousness. Another would be an increase in appetite.
