Anyone know about Topamax?
i was prescribed today Topamax for managing migraine headaches and to get off the high doses of aspirin i was taking before to manage the pain. i am very reluctant to take something that was made for seizures. i have read the side effects on the website but i want to know from users what they think about the drug. has it helped? are there many side effects?

I was prescribed Topamax for my migraines as well. As a sidenote, so was my mother and her best friend. All of us had similar side effects.
The most bothersome one for me was severe memory loss. I ended up quitting taking the medicine within 3 months because I could not remember things for nursing school.
However, in 3 months, I lost 30 pounds. I did not try to diet or increase my exercise in any way. It did suppress appetite quite a bit.
My mother and her friend had the same two side effects and subsequently both stopped taking it as well.
One other minor annoyance was dry mouth.
It did help my migraines; I did not have one in three months, when usually I would have one a week. The memory loss just was not worth it though.
