Why do I get headruch followed by blackout?!

Question:

Why do I get headruch followed by blackout?

This has been a problem for about the last year or so. Almost everytime I stand up I get headrush, that's nothing new. But now, I can walk a few feet and I black out. It's really scary for me, even now that I'm used to it. It's only a few seconds but it feels like forever. I get dizzy and everything just goes black.

Any ideas of what's going on?

Well, a lot of people in my family have high blood pressure but I'll see if I can get it checked out. Thanks!

It happens to me too, but I have a known disease. barring any illegle drugs or perscription drugs that can cause this, it can be a few things. I do think you need to see your primary care Dr first, so he can refer you to a nuerologist. Blacking out for no reason isnt good at all, it is a sign that some kind of chemical reaction is going on in the brain. In my case its Lupus, but what your saying would not qualify as Lupus alone. However, getting an Mri is probablly needed. They need to also check you balance, and equelibrium (how your ears may be affecting your brain, it may be out of wack). I sure hope you have insurance. because getting up quickly and getting dizzy is one thing, blscking out is quite another. go to a dr asap.
good luck
