There are many things that can lead to mouth ulcers.
They can be caused by an overreaction by the body's own immune system. They seems to be provoked by stress, fatigue, illness, injury from accidental biting, hormonal changes, menstruation, sudden weight loss, food allergies and deficiencies in vitamin B12, iron and folic acid. So if they are reaccuring it might well be worth going back to your GP and asking for a blood test, results should be back in around 3 days. Or prehaps you could try going to your local health foods shop and trying some suppliments and vitamins.
Some prescriptions and recreational drugs can cause them too.
Hope that helps a little :)
