My hair is falling out, could it be because of thyroid, i am only 19, help?!

Question:

My hair is falling out, could it be because of thyroid, i am only 19, help?

Any time i wash my hair or simply brush it, i awlays end up with a hand full of hair, this is really not normal, i am losing my hair rapidly. I have never had these problems before, this started about a montha ago and i can notice how much hair i have lost. I don`t even dye my hair or treat it with chemicals, so i don`t know what could be the reason...i also went for a routine check up last week and the doctor was examiningmy neck and asking me all kinds of questions, e.g. if any of my realtives has thyroid problems, if i have problems with heart...i haven`t noticed any of that , but i have noticed my hair is falling out and i the heat is making me feel bad, i also get strong headaches sometimes...do u think all this could be caused by a health problem? What kind of specialist should i visit. Thanks.

hi
first you should see an Md or internal medicine MD anyone can order the labs you need, tell them the symptoms you are having and they will know what to order, here is a list you may want to go over and check off any symptoms you may have or not have and take to your MD. good luck and don't worry, the hair will return, I had the same problem. Good Luck, Pat
