Can you spread a yeast infection?!

Question:

Can you spread a yeast infection?

I know that I don't have a STD because I was checked when I was pregnant and haven't had any other partners since except my hubby. I believe I have a yeast infection but we had sex and now he has 2 raw spots on him. Can you spread a yeast infection?

Answers:

Yes it is possible a woman can spread a yeast infection to a man and vice versa. Usually if a man has sex with a woman who has an infection he won't get it but sometimes he does. In that case, he needs to go to the doctor to get it treated otherwise he'll continue to re-infect you, like with an STD. However a yeast infection in a man doesn't cause raw spots. Unfortunately that sounds like an STD, possibly syphilis. Syphilis is a bacterial STD that is treatable with antibiotics and is somewhat harmless if it's in the primary stage. Syphilis is the only bacterial STD that can be very dangerous if left untreated. You and your husband should get tested to rule out anything. Even if it's actually Syphilis or some other STD, that is not an indication of infidelity. STD's can remain dormant in the body for a long time before flaring up.
