What does it mean when your urine has a strong odor?
Tried drinking lots of water everyday, but it still has a strong smell. Don't know what it could be.
Answers:
Could be cystitis or just something you ate.
Abnormal urine odor may also indicate:
Hepatic (liver) failure
Ketonuria
Maple sugar urine disease (very rare)
Phenylketonuria (rare)
Rectal fistula
Urinary tract infection

When urine sits at room temperature, some of the chemicals in the urine may break down and cause an ammonia-like odor.
