Can drinking alcohol on a consistent basis cause mild dementia or brain damage?!

Question:

Can drinking alcohol on a consistent basis cause mild dementia or brain damage?

Answers:

yes it can, and what amounts to 'excessive drinking' is lower than people think, and the damage from it may be severe. I have pasted some links about it...

A lot of the damage from truly heavy drinking is nutritionally related. People who satisfy their hunger with sugars (whether it is soft drinks, candy bars or alcohol) tend not to eat enough nutritious food. It is a lot easier to get a heavy drinker to take some vitamins and eat a couple hard boiled eggs a day, than to get them to stop drinking.

Light daily drinking, like one shot of liqour or one beer, or one glass of wine per day is actually good for you, 2 is a break even, and over that daily is excess drinking. Over 4 drinks in any one day is excess drinking for that day, excess drinking for 2 days a week is excess drinking - at least so far as your health goes.
