Am I having a growth spurt?!

Question:

Am I having a growth spurt?

People are saying how Ive grown quite a lot in a week, and how Ive suddenly got taller but does this mean Im having a growth spurt, I dont seem to have any growth pains, and I am in my late teens. so do you haave to have growth pains in order to have a growth spurt. And if I am having a growth spurt how do i prevent it, Im already 6 ft 11 and Im 18

Answers:

A growth spurt is usually assosciated with early/mid teens and happens during puberty, and it can be painful. At 18, you can continue growing, but usually at a much slower rate. If it helps, I'm almost 24 and I've grown another inch in the last 2 years! But I'm just shy of 5'8" so perhaps less of a problem.

Are you really 6ft 11" or was that a typing error and supposed to be 6ft 1"? Do you know how tall your dad is? That might be an indicator of how tall you should be, give or take an inch or two, depending on how tall male members of your mum's family are.

The only way to stop growing is to stop eating, but that's not recommended. Your body is genetically programmed to grow to a particular height, so I'm afraid there's not much you can do about it!
