While the plasma is collected, the other blood components are filtered into a reservoir. Once the reservoir is full, your red and white blood cells and platelets are returned to your body."
Btw, you can donate blood and plasma both if you have a piercing or tatto as long as you were pierced or inked more than a year ago (at most collection centers).
