Helps me go to sleep: Unisom gelcaps. Turkey. Having been up for seventy-two hours. Benadryl. Trying to read The Hobbit. The Cranberries. Star Trek. Natalie Portman. A good cry. As long as it's a really bad time to fall asleep, sex.

Keeps me up: Two kids (five and three year old boys). My husband. The people in the apartment above us. The hispanic guys across the parking lot who have the subwoofers fixed up so that the bass from the freaking loud music pounds into the heads of everyone within 15 miles of them, and who I am lucky to have parked right outside my bedroom. My husband's fan, if it's blowing on my face. The caffienne I pump into my body all day long to keep myself awake when the music starts playing or my upstairs neighbors get it on. If I'm already tired, having sex will make me wake up, and I'm usually awake half the night afterwards, which is part of the reason I get so ticked off when my husband wakes me up for sex.
