What could cause knee soreness pain in one knee but not the other?!

Question: Any day that I walk for an extended period of time, not necessarily continuously I get soreness/pain in my left knee but not my right. It used to only occur when I worked at my job that involved a lot of moving on the weekend. Now that I am at college, I have to walk some distance to all my classes because the campus is large and my knee is sore every day. The fact that it only occurs in one knee but not the others is the reason I am concerned at all. It has stopped be from weight lifting. At first I stopped doing lifts that involved knee movement but had to stop altogether because I can't warm up by running (10 min max) with out serious soreness in my knee for several days.

It could be anything. Tendonitis, a plica (overgrown tissue being pinched and becoming inflammed). Definitely talk to your doctor about it. They may refer you to an orthopedist for further evaluation (Poking, prodding, questions, movement, perhaps and MRI - but maybe not right away), they may want you to try physical therapy and see if that helps at all. Definitely speak to a doctor though.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. Feel free to email me if you have any questions - I've got knee issues and have been through it all, including surgery.

arthritis (beginning of)

Too answer that question accurately you would need to see a doctor and have probably a MRI or CT done to see if you have torn ligaments or tendons. That is what it sounds like. And if you continue without seeking treatment, realize you are putting MORE stress on the "good" knee. I would head to the doctor.

Well...it could be just a case of an old injury even in your childhood that resulted in the weakening or damaging of the cartilage. It could have been an injury that you had forgotten about. It could also be an early onset of arthritis. My best guess, not knowing you, is that you need to have an adjustment by a certified chiropractor.

There may be injury to ligament and there may be also foreign body in joint space as well inflammation in the joint.you should have hot fomentation with hot water in which put sufficient salt to make it hypertonic thrice daily . It shall certainly help.

It could be a number of things ranging from a pulled ligament to cancer (unlikely)
It could be the start of arthritis. It could also be an inflamation/ or you could of done something to your knee without knowing.

Good luck and see a doctor!
