The Dr. will ask you how you think you broke your foot. They will take X-ray's and either tape it up, give you crutches and send you home until the Dr. reads the X-ray, or they will keep you there until they look at the film. Depending on how badly it is broken, the Dr. will determine if surgery is needed or if it can just be casted. Depending on your health care provider, you will have it casted the same day or they will wrap your foot and you will come back in a day or two to have it casted. Sometimes there is a LOT of waiting around so bring something to read or to do and try to keep the foot elevated to reduce pain and swelling. Good luck!!!
