I had botox done for migraine headaches, most people are unaware that this is something that can be done but it is a good solution for some of us. My migraines are caused because of a brain injury so they do not respond to traditional migraine medication and I have suffered for 27 years with each year getting just a little bit worse. This past summer a pain specialist suggested I try botox for the migraines, so I did. It worked out to 2 bottles of botox and each bottle of botox costs about $420.00 and the doctors services costs $120.00 per bottle to inject, each bottle gets about 25 injections out of it. In my case I had it injected all acrossed my forehead and into the hairline down the sides of my face around my eyes, keeping away from my sinuses, (that can be very dangerous to get botox in) my migraines also affect my ears so I also had it all around my ears as much as possible and down the back of my neck and up into the hair line as far as possible, which is why it took two bottles. Because this was for migraines and not for cosmetical purposes my husbands beniftits insurance company covered the entired cost, there is 2 different botox's available and the one I used does have a drug ID number just like any other drug from the pharmacy, and I got the added benefit of a few less wrinkles, don't get me wrong, the doctor didn't place the botox in any wrinkles but the shear number of injections that I had worked for that purpose anyway. The best new was that for the first time in 27 years I had relief from my head, I get migraines at least 5 out of 7 days, and now for the past 6 months I have had relief. The botox last for 3-4 months so I have now had a second set done and I will continue, it is much better than trying to take handfulls of painkillers that don't really work. yes, i had it done around my eyes. it's really not very painful and it's over so quickly. the only thing it hurts is your bank account!
