Right side Abdominal / Oblique pain. Is it something I should get looked at asap!

Question: For about 4 days now I've been having this discomfort on my right side. It feels tight and ridgid compared to my left, and maybe a bit bloated. Although occassionally I do get sharp pains it's mostly just discomfort. It almost feels numb. It starts just below my rib cage and continues to my waist. Sometimes it does radiate to my back. It comes and goes but I feel it most when I'm sitting or lying down. Sometimes I get little spasmy feelings in the region. I have had no other symptoms. No area discoloration, no change in stool or urine, no constipation, no irregular temp, haven't felt nauseous or dizzy. If I had any of these other symptoms I would go straight in, so I'm at a loss.
Please Help!!

I would go to the ER to get it checked out. Like someone said, it could be your appendix, which is classically characterized by right sided abdominal pain. You could also have a hernia, a kidney stone, a kidney infection, gall bladder stone, or problems with your liver among other things. Have you been lifting anything heavy or doing anything unusual? New exercise routine perhaps? If you are a woman, it could even be a myocardial infarction (heart attack). Women do not present with classical symptoms of a heart attack and it could manifest itself as abdominal pain.

I'd get in, maybe not emergency room in, but definitely to see your Doctor asap. It could be a number of things, but because you say your not really getting the other tell tale symptoms it may have a better than worse chance of just being a strain or something like that. I'm not a doctor.

you need to go to the er it could be your appendix

I would have it checked out if I were you. Maybe you have a hernia or appendicitis. Or, best scenario, a pulled muscle. Good luck.

your liver is on the right side ,and the gallbladder is on the left. if i were you i would get myself over to the er now those are puzzling symptoms. but i really think its your liver..

Susan S is a nurse and has a good answer for you. It's also possible it could be a gall bladder attack, though if I remember correctly, those tend to start on the outside and work their way in towards the center.

Just to be on the safe side, keep away from fatty foods and any spicy or hard to digets foods until you can see your doctor.
