repetative mation (especially without proper stretching during breaks) will pull your spinal column out of alignment. good back and neck stretches should be done daily if you are in that type of work. I agree with the other answer as well-heat and cold intermitantly. Perform stretches before, during, and after your shift and try to use better lifting and stacking techniques. Like: do not turn with you waist with a load, turn your feet first and keep the load close to your body. Do not lift higher that your heart, and especially do not extend load after you have lifted it up in the air. If you have to do these things on a regular basis, I would recommend visits to a chiropractor weekly-because the problem will never go away.

Also, building up those muscles with weights is also very good.

its caused by too mch strain to that area like lfting things get heat packs and the use ice packs

Sounds like you damaged some tissue back there. If there is any bruising you may have torn muscle. If swelling you could have strained or torn tendon. Generally speaking, most people with manual labor jobs suffer from bad habits at work. Lifting things with pretty ugly form and what not.

I would recommend, getting an xray to make sure the disc are not herniated. Also, begin doing more pulling movements in your workouts. Don't want to rant away here. I have a link to a free ebook that can help you become strengthen the muscles (check out the link).
