Sore hip after bowling?!

Question: I have been bowling on leagues, and recently my Left Hip has started hurting very bad. I think it is where the legbone is connected to the hip joint. It is also the leg I slide/stop on when releasing the ball.

I have been taking Glucosamine + Chondroitin for a month now, but it still hurts.

What can I do to aleviate the pain, can I make it stronger by some exersises?

PS, Im 40 years old, I spent 8 years in the Army doing some very strenous exersises, backpacking and marching. Of course that was some 20 years ago, and I have put on a few pounds. Currrently im 5'11" and 230 lbs. I know I have to loose my beer belly, and I am exersiing to get rid of it. This pain in my hip also affects my workouts, running for the most part. before bowling I could run 2-3 miles no problem with only the occasional hip pain.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like it could be either arthritis. It could also be from being over weight. Often times being at an unhealthy weight can cause joint and muscle pain. I would recommend some anti-inflammatory supplements like Omega 3 fish oils, OPC-3, Resveratrol, and some calcium. Glucosamine is great to take for joint health so keep taking it. The main cause of arthritic joint pain is inflammation. Your joints swell up and that what causes the pain. So by taking a supplement that helps inhibit that from happening is a great natural and safe way to help with the pain. As for helping to lose the beer belly try something like Transitions CLA and Transitions Fat Absorption inhibitor. Those two supplements are very aggressive towards stubborn stomach fat. ps, take it a little easy on the running because it is probably making it worse. Try something that doesn't involve pounding on your feet. Like a bike for instance.

Your running maybe causing your hip pain. I am in my 40's and run so I kind of have similar issues. I have found that stretching really helps. I also found that taking vitamin C with rose hips helps me out very much. Since I am allergic to shell fish, I cannot take Glucosamine + Chondroitin. One of my coworkers is in the reserves and he started taking 1000 mg of vitamin C with rose hips and that is where I got that info from. You want to get up to 2000 mg a day. Try it. And stretch every day.

It sounds like it could be arthritis. I have alot of problems with my knees. I'm not certain if you can get arthritis in your hips or not, but I take Tylenol Arthritis and that help me determine that the pain I have is arthritis. You may want to give that a try. Good luck!

Just don't exercise much, and see you're doctor.
