I can't sleep! Any advice?!

Question: I've had sleep problems on and off since I was a teenager, and I'm in the middle of one right now. I lost my job about a month ago (it had nothing to do with me, the position was eliminated, but I was still really upset about it) and at first all I wanted to do was sleep. I'm a night person, but I was going to bed between 8 and 9 pm every night and waking up by 8am every morning for the first couple of weeks. Anyone who knows me knows that is very strange. But now I just can't sleep. I go to bed but just wind up laying there for 2 or so hours before I finally fall asleep, then sleep through the day. Any suggestions how I can get back to a somewhat normal sleep pattern?

3) Talk to someone about your problems

Try not to sleep during the day, and do some chores just to make your body tired a bit, so it will need a rest at night. If that won't do, try reading or watching some boring program on tv. That will help.

I am a non-sleeper and I put on a CD of books on tapes and let them read to me. I'm often asleep before the first sentence ends.
