Can doing core stabilization exercises make you look or feel pregnant?!
Question: I've been going to physical therapy twice weekly and my therapist, due to back issues, has me doing core stabilization but I swear my tummy is getting bigger and not flatter. It also feels firm like it did when I was pregnant and I know that I am not. What's going on?

Pilate's core stabilizing. Yes I did it and one day in the shower noticed two extra bumps, panic! I told the PT who laughed and said 'They are not bumps, they are well defined muscles!' I have to admit I never had muscle their before. You are at the start of getting rid of the access flab and starting to tighten the muscles. Give it a few extra weeks and you too will wake up with well defined flat tummy muscles. However I do hope you are doing these exercises at home and when out shopping. Suck it in! Good Luck
Based on the research I did it could be that the exercises are causing you to build muscle in that area. Here's the link to the search I did that may be of even more help to you:

I would recommend letting your physical therapist know of your concerns with doing these exercises to see what she says.
