What do should I know?!

Question: I am going to have back surgery. I blew out my L3,4, &5.

What did you go through?

How long did it take before you recovered enough to go back to work?

Do I have to have someone there at all times right after I come home?

have no fear Degenerative Disc Disease girl is here.... lol ok in all seriousness, I had this same surgery. I was fine by myself healed very quickly. I was up walking around on my own the same day. But this is a very typical case, I have a very high threshold for pain. There will be some pretty severe discomfort and it will be difficult to walk for the first week. But you will get better fast. I was up around about on my own after the first 4 days. It wouldnt be the worse idea to have someone come stay with you for at least a week, just in case, I drove myself home from the hospital.... which proved to be a giant mistake. I drove a standard lol. Anyways. the surgery will go very quickly probably 3 maybe 4 hours. Its just the first few days you will want to sleep as much as possible to avoid pain. Moving for the first 3 days will burn and make you want to pass out. so keep someone close at all times just in case you fall. you will have someone there to help you... and not laugh to hard at you. Don't be afraid. be afraid when you have spinal cord compression like me in your T Spine and ALL Neurosurgeons are afraid to touch you.
