Sharp pain in arm and chest, what could this be?!

Question: Last night before I fell asleep I got a really bad sharp pain in the right side of my chest, which shot down through my arm. It lasted about 8 minutes and spread throughout my chest and eventually made both my hands and right forearm numb. The numbness lasted about 30 minutes. It was a really bad pain, and I am pretty tolerant when it comes to pain.

What could have caused this?

Thank you!

From a nurse: See a doctor, as previously stated, it could be heart related, stroke or something related to carpal tunnel. Always take these symptoms seriously until reviewed by a doctor. If happens again before seeing doctor, take an aspirin & call 911.

Heart attack
Stroke
Anxiety
Heart Burn (seriously)
Nerve damage
Aneurism

All sorts of things, really.

Heart attack is possible, but mostly the left arm in affected. Bottom line go see a doctor and have him , not yahoo figure what is wrong. Before it's too late.
