Muscle spasms help?!

Question: My left leg, from my knee to about 4 inches up thigh, has been twitching for about 7 hours straight! I haven't been doing any strenuous activities so I don't think it's from overuse. I do have knee cap problems but I really don't think this is related. Any idea why I am having these spasms and how I can stop them? Thanks!

Provided there are no neurological or neurodegenerative causes such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, stroke, or spinal cord injury - extra Calcium is usually the solution for muscle spasms or muscle cramps that happen at night.

An acidifying approach may be tried such as taking a very large amount of Vitamin C for a few days. If the muscle spasms or cramps get worse, then at least one can assume that calcium was likely on the low side.

One-sided leg cramps or spasms can help with the decision of what to supplement, whereby the left side is usually indicative of calcium, while the right side is generally an indication of magnesium being needed, although some individuals require a calcium / magnesium combination for relief as a result of both being low.

If poor circulation causes muscle cramps, Vitamin E might be a good choice for its blood-thinning and vasodilating properties.

However, seeing as though this has only been present for a few hours, it sounds like a trapped nerve. Try massaging around the area yourself with some oil first and see how you get on, (maybe put a few drops of black pepper and eucalyptus oil on the area which helps too)

Drink more water, you may be slightly dehydrated

I have chronic pain-mainly in my neck & back, and when I'm having a bad time of it, my legs twitch. I don't know exactly what causes it, but I've noticed it twitches when I start to get better. I've also been told that its your body's way of healing.

i think there called "tics" nerves twitching i get them on my eyelid all the time very annoying but they go away by them selves
