I have acute pain in my knees. My mother asserts that my depression is responsib!

Question: Granted, I have other pains which are related to my mood, such as burning flush/sensation in the forehead when I'm stressed. But can really acute knee pain be psycho-somatic? She wants to send me to a psychiatric clinic to heal the pain. I'm afraid I'm gonna lose my time there.

This being said, this knee pain is awful, it's only in sitting position, needless to say that it makes life miserable.

There are psycho-somatic pains, but I would also recommend having your joints checked out by general doc, or an orthopedic surgeon. Joint pain and depression go hand in hand. I have a progressive joint disorder and have had on-off depression related to it that has irritated by joints. Its a vicious cycle, but you should have both checked out independantly to make sure that there isn't something else going on. Best of luck...

i have very bad knees I'm on methadone for the pain..you and me are alike..i also have deep depression and manic bipolar 1..i think the pain will make your depression worse..if that is what your asking??..............

SOme auto-immune diseases like lupus cause pain and depression. Go to a regular Dr.
