Im trying to quit smoking... And Im going to use the patch....?!


Question: But I cant use them at night ...Because they give me nightmares and I dont sleep well .... So when I wake up I want a smoke so bad that I say to myself one wont hurt and it dose I end up smoking again.....Morning is a really bad time for me because I smoke about 5 cigs to get my nic up any advice HELP

If you are having that hard of a time in the morning: Try cutting the patch in a smaller strip when you're sleeping. I had the same problem when I accidentally wore the patch to bed. Or try chewing the nicotene gum (I know it tastes horrible, but it may help get you through your morning urges).

Other ideas for all day urges:

I found that the patch was pretty good at the begining. I only used one "step". When you feel like your not as needing, cut the strip into a smaller strip and you'll save a few bucks.

Also try lots of water & cinnamon gum.

Stay away from bars and other places where a lot of smokers are present.

Reward yourself, give yourself an incentive. . . if you spent $4 a day on cigs, after one month you'll have saved $120. Give yourself a treat with all of the money you saved (you can not buy three cartons of cigs).

Do it for yourself, or someone you love.

Let your friends know that you quit. . . and let them know you may be a little edgy.

You will always want a cigarette. It's kind of a bittersweet thing. They smell good when you want one ~ but horrible when you don't.

Time to start shoveling in the food. You know, they don't call it a pie-hole for nothing.

Forget the patch. It does nothing but supplement you with nicotine, it's a waste of money. The whole point is to get the nicotine out of your system. Just don't smoke.

If you can try "Chantix" it's the stop smoking pill. It works really well with very little side effect. Good luck!

DONT SMOKE...jus quit it....jus stop thinkin abt the patches..pretend u dont hav them....now when u use them patches...u shud be able to keep control of ur nicotine cravin...thtz wht its supposed to do...so dont think u hav to hav a ***....jus stop thinkin abt cigs

YOU SHOULD TRY CHEWING GUM INSTEAD.
A PATCH WON'T WORK ANYWAY BECAUSE YOU STILL BE
ADDICTED TO THE NICOTINE THAT'S IN IT.

You may want to ask your doctor about Chantix. It may make your stomach upset for about a week but it goes away. Good luck

Oh God, I've been there and I feel your pain. Morning is the WORST when you are trying to quit. Especially once that first cup of coffee gets sipped, it wants to be chased with a smoke!

I'd say use the gum, but its crap and doesn't work. I haven't quit yet, but the next time I try I think I'm going to buy some of those herbal nicotine-free cigarettes. You can find them at head shops and smoke shops. Then smoke those for a couple weeks and go cold turkey. Hopefully it'll work for me. If you try it drop me an email and let me know how it goes! there's a new prescription that's supposed to help but i don't know how well it works. i'm a smoker too and in the morning it's "LEAVE ME ALONE UNTIL I'VE HAD MY FIRST CIGARETTE AND A CUP OF COFFEE...." so i feel for you there. try keeping a pack of cinamon gum next to your bed....when you first wake up reach for that instead of the cigarettes. then put your patch on immediately to get the nicotine flowing.....hope this helps.....good luck.
