It is caused by a vitamin B deficiency. Try some spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, tuna, eggplant (there are many sources) or even a supplementary vitamin pill. I had this 2 months ago and am just now getting over it... it is a long time to heal. My fingers were peeling so bad that I couldnt even take a hot shower because they were so sensitive, and no lotions will work.

Exposure to winter weather, causes your skin to dry out and create these little tears in the skin around the nails. Be sure to exfoliate twice a week and moisturize. You might even want to get some hand oil. (can be found in manicure areas in all stores) Perhaps you should consider some gloves for outdoors.

The skin right behind your nail is called a cuticle. During winter months when the air is very dry, cuticles can crack and peel. Best remedy is to keep your hand moisturized with a good lotion and keep hydrated with lots of water. Also if you have a humidifier at home, use it.

meet mr. hangnail. Lotion or cream is what you need, but you can't just put it on once and expect a cure. Lotion up a couple of times a day, after you wash your hands is good. Put lotion on before you go to bed. It will take about 10 days but they will go away. don't do like I do and bite them and shred your fingers. some times I can peel them all the way down to that first knuckle...ew I know.

you should try using Vaseline cover it with knit mittens all night if you can stand it, and whenever you think about it
