Rhinoplasty is considered a cosmetic surgery and usually not covered under a health insurance. However, a SMR(submucous resection for a deviated septum) and septoplasty are covered for the plain reason that deviated septum is a medical necessity. If the bump really bothers you; you should go for a rhinoplasty. This will greatly improve your self- image and self- confidence. Besides, in the hands of a plastic surgeon, the results are good. The recovery phase from such surgery is not too bad. You might have difficulty in breathing after the surgery. EENT can perform the two mentioned procedures. Again, SMR and SEPTOPLASTY are totally covered by health insurance. . The cosmetic or pastic surgeon usually performs the rhinoplasty.which is considered an elective surgery.

But usually , the surgeon puts in two drains and provides a hole for breathing among all the nasal packing. You'll find the results remarkable. He might use a cartilage obtained from your ear if he needs to build up the bridge as in my case. Or he might just smooth out or flatten the bump or hook as in your case.by crashing it lightly.
The surgery is uneventful and not too complicated.

If you want to watch the whole surgery, go to Channel 28 and watch Dr. Rey perform this live on DR. 90210.

OK. Had one a little over two years ago, along with a chin implant. The first thing I was NOT prepared for was the bruising! Seriously, I looked like I got hit by a truck and my eyes were swollen shut. Not everyone brusises as badly as I did, but there were a few days in there where I wondered what the hell I'd gotten myself into! As far as pain goes, there was hardly any at all, amazingly enough. My nose wasn't that bad to begin with, but I hated it kind of like you said. It had a bump on the bridge too. Now it's nice and ordinary, doesn't look "plastic" at all. I would highly recommend it, if it will help you to feel better about yourself, but I would have liked to know that I would look REALLY bad before it got better, which it did. :)

Usually day surgery in a small surgi-centre. Recovery time is dependant on the extensiveness of the surgery, but usually quick and relatively painless. Having said that you wil experience a bit of pain, this is unavoidable. You nose will look worse for a few weeks but as the swelling goes down and the bruising dissapears you will be fine. I have never had it, ut have seen many performed and looked after many patient following a variety of rhinoplasty operations.

Welll...my friend had one...it hurts. You'll have dark bruises under your eyes and bruising elsewhere which can take up to 3 weeks to heal.
