What would the best back brace be for this situation?!
Question: My girlfriend has bad posture and requested one to assist her with it. There are so many out there that i was hesitant to just buy one hoping that it would be what she needed. They have some that have straps that go around your shoulder and pull them back to aid with posture, but i wasn't sure if it would be healthy. I guess there's just so much crap out there i need help sifting through it from someone who has perhaps bought a crappy one or knows an orthopedic surgeon or chiropractor. Thanks for any help you guys.

The only way to correct bad posture is by exercise which then strengthens the back muscles which then hold you more erect. She has to want to do this on her own though. If it is your idea, she will probably be resistant to it. Back braces are bad, bad, bad. What they actually do is they take over the work of the muscles, allowing the muscles to get weaker and weaker and the posture to get worse and worse. Then, it puts you at risk for some sort of back injury with the smallest of force occurring. Don't buy one.
