Help! Back Pain?!

Question: My back is absolute agony across my shoulder blades, I've been to see my GP loads of times with it and all he does is crack it and give me anti-inflammitorys and send me on my way. It usually settles down for a while after and then flares up again. Thinking I should go see a chiropractor, I'm only 24 so a bit young to be having back problems. How much would going to see a chiroprator cost me? (I live in Ireland)

I have had agonising back pain, on one or either shoulder blade, since I was 19. I thought I was too young, too. I can go for months between flare ups, but then spend 24 hours a day with spasms and agony. Nothing seems to trigger it, in my case. I do alot of lifting at work, and am quite active generally, but there has never been any pattern appear, as such. The doctor confirmed I had damaged (torn, inflamed, irreparable, ripped) muscles around that area, and said nothing could fix it, but that deep heat massages could help. All I can suggest is, if it is any thing like mine, deep heat stick on pads, improving your posture, and investing in a good matress are about the best things you can do. Oh, and Ibuprofen, as it is an anti inflammatory, as well as a pain killer. But this is what helps ME manage MY bad back...you are right to seek personal help and advice. All I would say is, however much it is - PAY it. It'll be a drop in the ocean compared to a lifetime of pain.

Don't see why you should have to pay. Ask for a referral to a physio on the NHS

Pain is not normal at any age let alone at 24~you been to your family doctor i think it is time to see a chiropractor. Lets keep this problem minor before it becomes major one
