Where is the Ulnar Collateral Ligament?!

Question: Ok so I'm under the impression that the UCL is near the ulna (hint the name of the ligament) but now I'm looking at treatment options for it, and all injuries have to do with the thumb? So if your thumb is connected by the radial collateral ligament, which is obviously connected to the Radius, how are Ulnar collateral ligament injuries related to the thumb when that ligament is part of the outer wrist? where the radial collateral ligament is part of the inner wrist where the thumb is?

I recently strained my UCL and trying to find alternative treaments at home.

Not all the injuries for this have to do with the thumb. UCL will prevent deviation for the RCL and vice versa....So they compensate one another. I am a massage therapist and what works for this is Deep Tissue work or Friction Therapy. This helps break up scar tissue underneath. A lot of these injuries occur from overuse and repetitive use..ie...computer work. I would also get a brace to immobilize it for a while..it helps....I had the same problem but mine was the RCL. I pulled up one of my books online from Massage and Bodywork....check it out! It has diagrams in there on how to do exercises and ROM -range of motion- for treatment. I hope this helps! Let me know how you do!
