What type of headaches are these?!

Question: I thought I had migraines, then it was thought they were sinus headaches, and now they're thought to be tension headaches?

Is there actually a difference between the three? haha.

I have one right now, which prompted me to ask this question, symptoms are:
- overall dull headache, but with moments of sharp, intense pain
- I feel the pain from the base of my heck, all the way to the top of my head, almost also the sides, and the forehead, and behind my eyes.
- Doesn't go away when I go to sleep - will last for weeks.
- Medicine doesn't always help much. Except for the hydrocodine the hospital gave me once. I have some, but I dont like to take them.
- Sensitivity to light and noise.
- Nasea
- I have allergies and sinus problems.
- I have a fairly stressful life.
- I also have a family history of migraines.

I've had headaches all of my life. I went to the hospital after having one consistently for about two weeks, and I had an MRI and blood taken, and they found nothing wrong.

Alot of your symptoms sound like your having a migraine headache. My suggestion is to see a neurologist... Soon if possible...

Meanwhile you need to start writing down what you eat, and things that you are doing throughout the day to help determine the trigger for these headaches. Identifying the triggers is very important, then you will know what you need to avoid.

Hope this helps... Best of luck!

It is hard to say. You have a combination of symptoms. You need to see a neurologist.

keep a headache diary and follow up with your doctor. the diagnosis of headaches can take years, so be patient and ask for a referral to a neurologist.
